Laia Balcells is the Christopher F. Gallagher Family Professor of Government at Georgetown University, where she is also core faculty of the M.A. in Conflict Resolution, and a faculty affiliate of Gui2de, the BMW Center for German and European Studies, and the Center for Latin American Studies.
Her research and teaching sit at the intersection of comparative politics and international relations. She earned my Ph.D. with University distinction from Yale University in 2010, following graduate studies in Madrid. She hold a BA in Political Science from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona), where she received the Premi Extraordinari (Highest Distinction) and completed a year as an Erasmus fellow at Sciences Po Toulouse.
